Updated Payout Information and Schedule Revisions for 2022 Season

Eastaboga, AL – Talladega Short Track officials have revamped the 2022 Payouts for Weekly Racing events at the 1/3rd red-clay oval. With the rising cost and many challenges facing competitors, track officials are increasing the “start” money for Weekly Racing events to $50 in all classes. This means that every division will pay a minimum of $50 for starting the A-Main. This increase is to help competitors put a little extra money in their pocket to aid them in getting back to the track each week.

Also new for 2022, Payouts will be on a sliding scale based on car counts in each division. The more cars a division has, the more the purse will increase to reward those classes that bring the most support. This change in the purse structure however does not decrease any purses from the past and will only increase payout in the classes that meet the thresholds put in place.

Along with the purse changes, there has been a small change in the scheduled events for the months of April and May. With the increased costs of getting to the track paired with shortages of tires and race parts, track officials have decided to scale back the race dates to help fans and competitors be able to get to the track for major events and ease some burden on them until June. We have also looked at a few area tracks and are trying to avoid some of their special events to allow them the opportunity to gain as many cars and fans as possible for their success as well. The revamp will not take any of our scheduled special events off the calendar, but some may be moved to accommodate the updated schedule. The revised schedule for the Stock Car track is listed below:

Saturday Night April 2nd – 2022 Season Opener featuring Super Late Models and Full Racing Program

Saturday Night April 9th – OFF (NO RACING)

Saturday Night April 16th – Full Racing Program PLUS $1,000 to win CRUSA Late Model Sportsman (602)

Friday Night April 22nd – NASCAR Weekend Night #1 Special Event – USCS Winged Sprint Cars, Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Touring Series, Super Late Models PLUS Full Racing Program

Saturday Night April 23rd – NASCAR Weekend Night #2 Special Event – USCS Winged Sprint Cars, Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Touring Series, Super Late Models PLUS Full Racing Program

Saturday Night April 30th – OFF (NO RACING)

May 7th – Kid’s Bicycle Races, Super Late Models and Full Racing Program

May 14th – Factory Stock Fury ($1,000 to win Factory Stocks) plus Full Racing Program

May 21st – NO STOCK CAR RACING – MAXXAMILLION event at Raceway Park (Kart Track)

May 28th – OFF (NO RACING)

The 2022 season will resume as planned beginning with Saturday night, June 4th, 2022.

We are hopeful that the changes to the purses are welcome, and that the small schedule adjustment is accepted and that we will all be able to have a strong summer of racing every Saturday night at “The Hornet’s Nest”!
